Volunteering helps the I-35 Booster Club use their funds where they will have the biggest impact – grants towards extra-curricular programs in the Interstate 35 school district. By avoiding a payroll for concessions stands and fundraising events, there is simply more money going towards Roadrunner students.

Not only that, volunteering has been proven to boost one’s mental and physical health [1]. And we understand you are busy! It’s hard to feel like you can schedule one more thing for the day, but science has actually proven that volunteering can reduce stress, boost your self-esteem, build a sense of belonging and improve perspective. Volunteering promotes physiological changes in the brain associated with happiness.

On top of all that good – you’re also showing your students that truely “takes a village” to make a community function. That life lesson is particularly valuable in our ever-changing world.

Student Volunteer Benefits
Student volunteers reap benefits too. It’s one reason the district has such a robust volunteer program.

  • By helping the Booster Club, students earns hour credits towards volunteerism. Be sure to have your paperwork signed.
  • Students get an inside look at the work required to make the high school and their extra-curricular activities a success for them and their fellow students. These insights can help them be good community stewards as adults, when they in-turn will be responsible for supporting their local schools and communities.
  • Plus – they can see friends while making a difference in their local peer community. They can organize a group to all work shifts together. They may even inspire others to get involved as well.

If you or your student are interested in volunteering – check out the sign-up link under the Volunteer heading or email us at I35boosters@gmail.com.
